Name: Viridian Emerald
I was out flying with Lightning Strike, my Skrill, currently heading towards a large, earthy island. The reason was because, rumor had it, there was a legendary Night Fury there that ruled over the island and dragons that lived there. People said that to tame it, you walk up 10,000 steps to reach the top of an altar that the legendary dragon slept upon. From there you had to offer it things; such as gems, gold, or shiny necklaces, bracelets, and anklets.
I wanted to see if the rumors were true, so I had two large bags slung over my back with at least twenty large rubies and sapphires, as well as some emerald necklaces that I didn't wear and a beautiful, emerald ring, and a lot of diamonds and crystals stuffed in. The other had countless smaller rubies, emeralds, sapphires, diamonds, crystals, and some amethysts. I eventually landed on the island and immediately noticed odd, white marble stairs leading high upwards. I stared, daunted. The rumors really were true. Well, about the steps anyways. I sprinted on over and stared again. I hesitantly placed a foot on the beginning step, and looked around warily. Upon nothing happening, I continued upwards uneasily, stopping to glance around suspiciously sometimes. Lightning Strike hadn't followed me up; he was at the bottom of the steps, pacing back and forth unhappily, watching me
I eventually made it to the top and immediately froze in shock. The dragon in front of me resembled a Night Fury, although the ends of it's wings were tattered as were both sets of it's tail fins. It had strange horns, with magnificant green eyes and patterns. It turned it's head towards me and a low growling sound slowly built up in it's throat.
I shook my head slightly, and pulled the first bag off, knelt down, and let the contents out of the bag. The dragon leaned forward, slightly interested. I pulled the second bag off, and let those contents out. The dragon, possibly impressed by the amount of goods, stood up and stalked over to me. I pushed myself back up to my feet, and stepped backwards warily. It stared down calmly at the gems, poking some of the necklaces with interest, before extending one wing and pulled the gems to side, where it had been laying.
It turned to face me directly, it's tail twitching. I flinched warily, generally thinking it was going to try and eat me or something. It stepped towards me and pushed my arm with it's forehead and pointed it's tail towards the piles of gems and pushed my arm again. I blinked slightly, wondering what the dragon was trying to indicate. The dragon hooked it's claws on one of the bags and shook it upside down, pushed my arm again, and gestured it's tail towards the pile of gems, and pushed my arm once more. I blinked, before I realized what the dragon was trying to say. "You're...thanking me?" I asked, confused. The dragon nodded once, and pushed it's head against my arm again.
It turned and walked towards the goods I'd given it and laid down next to it, and twitched it's wing towards me. Puzzled, I walked over and warily sat next the dragon. It curled it's tail around the gems and necklaces, bracelets and anklets I'd given it, and pushed it's head into my lap. Still wary of what the dragon might do, I slowly rubbed it's forehead. The dragon remained still while I rubbed it's forehead for a few minutes before pulling his - I was close enough now to tell it was male - head away and twisted his head towards the pile of gems. He sorted through it quickly before he found to single emerald ring. I picked it up with a claw and held it out towards me. I blinked, confused, and held my hand and the dragon dropped it into my head and re-settled his head in my lap.
I stared slightly at the emerald ring before turning my gaze towards the dragon, who was watching me curiously now. "Viridian Emerald sounds like a good name for you, right?" I asked, smiling. "I think it suits you, don't you?" The dragon - Viridian Emerald - twitched his wings slightly and licked my hand.
"Alright. Viridian Emerald it is."
